Patrolman Anthony J. Monczewski
Anthony J. Monczewski, served as a Baltimore Police Officer from 17 April 1944 to 3 February 1966. In the 1940's and most of the 1950's, he was assigned to the Southern District working mostly Brooklyn and Curtis Bay. His last five to six years, he served as Quartermaster. He passed away on 21 November 2002.
During his Police Officer career, he participated in the Police Band playing the French Horn and Trumpet in the 1940's and early 1950s. He was also a cook at Camp Ritchie for the Police Boys Camp. As a child he also learned to play the violin before the age of 10
His class photo was taken in April 1944. He can be seen standing is in the first row - 3rd from the right.
His son (Anthony J. Monczewski, Jr.) was a young child when the Police Band played at Druid Hill Park. His dad is the officer seated on the far right holding a trumpet. There is a partial arrow pointing to him.
Parade picture was taken in September 1949. Patrolman Monczewski is in the second row from the right - he is the second officer in the column and can be seen playing the French Horn.
