Policeman and Motorcyclist
Killed on Weekend
A city policeman and a Jessups motorcyclist were killed in separate traffic accidents during the weekend.
Dead are:
Patrolman John R. Falconer, 29, of Glen Burnie.
Daniel Longshore, 20, of Jessups.
Patrolman Falconer, who worked in the Automobile Special Services Division, was killed in a head-on collision at about 2 AM yesterday (8 Oct 1961) in Glen Burnie as he was on his way home from work.
Dead On Hospital Arrival
He was going east on Fifth Ave., and Francis K. Clark, of Linthicum Heights, was driving west when the collision occurred. The patrolman was dead on arrival at South Baltimore General Hospital. He was married and the father of four children. Police in Ferndale charged Clark with manslaughter.
The motorcyclist was killed about 10:45 p.m. on Route 32 in Anne Arundel County, near the Howard County line. Mr. Longshore and a passenger were traveling west when Mr. Longshore apparently lost control of the cycle, according to state police at Waterloo. Both fell off the vehicle, the passenger landing in the roadway and Mr. Longshore in a ditch. The cycle continued on before striking a roadside bank. The passenger was Robert C. Howell, 20, a soldier stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Mr. Longshore suffered a fractured skull, police said. The soldier, who was only slightly injured, was treated at Fort Meade and released.
